The significance of the over the shoulder shot, where we see Alex looking at his phone and calling Megan, is to allow the audience to feel like they are involved in the story from the outset, as the shot takes place at the beginning of the video. This particular shot breaks a certain barrier between actor and audience as it gives them a view from the perspective of the actor which it is not a usual occurrence in reality.
